Only for clarification:

two way tipper comes only with pneumatics.

threeway tipper comes always with hydraulics.

the Meiler system (mix between both systems above) is not available.

for additional clarification:

two way tipper in Switzerland came with "NENCKI hydraulics" circuit. The axial piston pump was attached to the right hand side PTO at the gearbox.

NENCKI probably was even earlier than SCHMIDT hydraulics.

This is the system, Christoph mentined. Schmidt did sell this pumps, too.

The tank is behind copilot's seat, valves can be behind the drivers seat as well as Westinghouse valve at the steering gear.

Markus

Thank you everyone for your replies

1) Does anyone have a photo of the NENCKI, Schmitt, Meile pump or hydraulic cylinder mounting arrangement? I suspect the NENCKI pump may interfere with my winch drives and the NENCKI valve and tank arrangement is very cool but this is where the folding top stores.
2) . Some reading indicates that there was an engine driven combination hydraulic pump and compressor?
3) . Any suggestions for finding parts would be most welcome

Also electric driven hydraulic power units were used in early Unimog, e. g. a FENNER STONE unit left side back under the cabin.

These are the parts for the hydraulic system use by Unimog late 1962 till 1974 with a combined air compressor and hydraulic pump.

I highly recommend to by a spar part leaflet list. Its multilangual and showing standard parts and options.

Christoph . Thank you for the reply - that electric unit is very interesting - that system definitely reduces the complexity.

Markus - My parts list does not show the Neicki style nor does it show how the cylinders are mounted to the frame very well - photos are very helpful thank you.

Can anyone direct me to a combination compressor/pump for sale, valving, controls, cylinder etc - it looks like I will need to fabricate the actual platform. I did see the hinges for the sideboards on ebay but am still looking for the latches Thank again!

Hello Ike,

attached you will find a "Kombipresser" consisting of a hydraulic gear pump and a piston compressor. In best condition this would cost much more than 2000 €. A good valve block is about 600 €. A recently built cylinder is available from some suppliers around 700 €.

Concerning the NENCKI circuit I also never have seen documents about. But I will have the chance to see in nature and take fotos of next weekend. You will see.

Ike,

unfortunately there was not enough time to take all relevant fotos and to definitely understand the hydraulic circuits. Neither I didn't succeed in tipping and I didn't check if back tipping is possible (probably yes).

The Unimog Markus had shown, is the one I investigated on. The tipper platform as well as the hydraulics are from NENCKI Langenthal/Switzerland. This Unimog in addition has a front hydraulic circuit which consists of a Toggle Valve and a Valve Block with two double acting sections which was used in the early Unimog 406 (U65) too. To me it is not clear if this front hydraulic circuit was also installed by NENCKI (probably not).

However, the NENCKI solution is quite interesting. The tailboards can be supported in horizontal position by a lever when unfolded.

... The axial piston pump is attached to the right hand side of the main gearbox where normally the pulley sits. It is activated by switching on the PTO.

The back hydraulic circuit is pressurized by a hand lever valve alternatively to two lines: Tipper Line and Second Line.

A Bypass Valve can be used to lower the tipper or to unload the Second Line. This is similar to the floating position of the WESTINGHOUSE valve blocks.

A Toggle Valve switches between back- and front hydraulic circuit.

... The tipper cylinder probably is a plunger type (single acting) in opposite to a telescopic one from HUNGER or WEBER in the German Unimog.

Conclusion: The NENCKI system is favourable, but quite hard to re-build (PTO on the right hand side).

For availability of parts I will send you a PN.
